  1. Appearance (noun) = look (n) = the way sb/sth looks on the outside; what sb/sth seems to be.
  2. Look(linking verb): to seem, to appear
  • You look happy/ tired today!
  1. Look like = resemble somebody.
  • She looks like her mother.
  • They are twins. They look like each other.
  1. Take after = resemble somebody
  • He takes after his father. Both of them are tall and have blue eyes.
  • She takes after her sister. They are twins.
  1. (Not) look yourself = To not have your normal healthy appearance.
  • You’re not looking yourself today. ( You look tired or ill/sick)
  1. Look wretched / retʃɪd / = look ill/sick or unhappy.
  • You look wretched. What’s wrong?
  1. Eyesore (noun) = a body, an object, a building, etc. that is unpleasant to look at.

Adjectives describing appearance (the human body)

  1. Good-looking = attractive
  2. Pleasantlooking = beautiful; attractive.
  3. Impressive = making you feel admiration.
  4. Attractive = pleasant to look at.
  5.  Charming = very pleasant or attractive.
  6. Beautiful = pleasing to the senses or the mind.
  7. Handsome (of men) = attaractive; good-looking.
  8. Lovely= beautiful; attaractive.
  9. Plain (especially of a woman) = not beautiful or attractive.
  10. Repulsive =  extremely unpleasant or unacceptable.
  11. Ugly= not pleasant to look at; unattractive.
  12. Unsightly = not pleasant to look at; ugly.
